Indiana men's basketball starting point guard Xavier Johnson is expected to be available against Nebraska tonight, per Jeff Goodman.
Indiana starting point guard Xavier Johnson is expected to return tonight at Nebraska, source told @TheMessenger.— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanHoops) January 3, 2024
Johnson has missed the last 7 games with a foot injury.
Kel’el Ware will also return after missing last game due to COVID.
Johnson has been unavailable since the first half of Indiana's game in Indianapolis against Harvard. He started against the Crimson but left the game and returned after the half with ice on his foot.
He suffered a foot injury in the closing minutes of the Hoosiers' game against Wright State but was available against both UConn and Louisville. He returned for a sixth year of eligibility after being granted a hardship waiver for last year's season ending injury against Kansas.
He provides an immediate boost at guard to a team that really needs scoring and outside shooting from its backcourt. Freshman Gabe Cupps has been starting in his stead as the rest of the team has gelled with time.
Whether he starts or begins his return off the bench is unclear.
