We already got our first glimpse of IU’s men’s basketball team last weekend during its two-game trip to The Bahamas. Now, we know when we’ll see them — and Teri Moren’s Big Ten title-contending women’s program — next.

IU announced Thursday that Hoosier Hysteria is back on the calendar after a one-year, pandemic-related break, with plans to stage the preseason showcase on Saturday, Oct. 2 at Assembly Hall.

Of course, that’s the same date as the football team’s trip to Penn State, a game that probably won’t be assigned a kickoff time until late September. The good news is that, if you choose to go to Hoosier Hysteria, IU will make an effort to show the game “in and around the facility, including on the giant scoreboard,” per a university release.

Hoosier Hysteria, which is free to attend, will be the first time the men’s and women’s teams will compete in front of fans in Bloomington since March 2020. A full slate of events, including participants, will be announced prior to the weekend of Oct. 2.
