By this time next week, Indiana could have itself a three-man recruiting class for 2022.
That’s because four-star combo guard Jalen Hood-Schifino is planning to announce his college decision next Tuesday, Aug. 24, according to a scoop from Joe Tipton of On3. Per Tipton, Hood-Schifino will made his choice between IU and Tennessee.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Florida native is considered the No. 24 overall player in the country, the No. 3 shooting guard and the No. 6 prospect from his home state, per the 247 Sports Composite database. Prior to whittling down his list to a pair of finalists, Hood-Schifino was also reportedly considering Florida, Memphis and Texas. He originally committed to Pittsburgh in December 2019 before reopening his recruitment last summer.
IU already has two commitments for 2022, holding pledges from three-star Lawrence North shooting guard CJ Gunn and three-star Georgia wing Kaleb Banks. Gunn, the No. 141 player nationally, originally committed to Indiana’s former coaching staff this past winter before re-upping with new coach Mike Woodson. Banks, the No. 122 player in the class, made his commitment to IU on July 23. A commitment by Hood-Schifino would give IU the No. 7 recruiting class nationally, according to the 247 Sports class calculator.
