For the second straight year, Indiana tight end Peyton Hendershot enters the season on a list of the top players at his position. On Friday, Hendershot received placement on the John Mackey Award Watch list, one of 56 tight ends in the country to be included on the honor roll.
Hendershot received All-Big Ten third team honors last fall after finishing third on the team with 23 receptions for 151 yards and four touchdowns across the eight-game season. He posted season-highs with six catches for 34 yards and recorded his first career two-score game in the win at Rutgers on Halloween.
Hendershot is one of eight Big Ten tight ends on the watch list, joining Wisconsin’s Jake Ferguson, Iowa’s Sam LaPorta, Penn State’s Brenton Strange, Ohio State’s Jeremy Ruckert, Maryland’s Chigoziem Okonkwo, Northwestern’s Charlie Mangieri and Nebraska’s Austin Allen.
