The eyes of the Big Ten are focused on Indianapolis this week where the trading of empty cliches is taking place at the conference’s annual media day event. But the real action is unfolding on Twitter now that we know that coveted four-star, in-state defensive lineman Joe Strickland is committed to Purdue.
Yeah. IU recruits have Some Thoughts about that.
“Gone Be A Long 4 Years For Him..” cornerback James Monds tweeted.
Not to be outdone, linebacker Dasan McCullough tweeted similar sentiments before sharing a photo of himself with the Old Oaken Bucket.
“lol gon be a tuff 4 years,” McCullough tweeted.
Crimson Quarry fully endorses such pettiness, particularly after the Bucket game was shelved last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The rivalry could use a little juice right now, even if it’s just some online sniping in the middle of Talking Season. There’s nothing wrong with pumping the tires on some good, clean in-state hate.
Anyway, Strickland looks like a great prospect, and we’ll see if the words from Monds and McCullough prove prophetic in the coming years.
This year’s Bucket Game is scheduled for Nov. 27 in West Lafayette. The trophy remains in IU’s possession after the Hoosiers’ thrilling, double-overtime victory at Ross Ade Stadium in 2019.
