Mackenzie Holmes is one helluva player. You know it. I know it. Anyone who has watched an Indiana women’s basketball game knows it.
And now the rest of the country knows it, too.
The Associated Press on Wednesday named Holmes to its All-American honorable mention team, making her the first AP All-American selection in school history. The Maine native has been simply sensational as a sophomore, leading the Hoosiers with 18.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and a 60.3% shooting mark from the field.
Nationally, she ranks seventh in field goal percentage, 10th in blocks and 30th in field goals made. Holmes, an All-Big Ten first team honoree, has scored in double figures 20 times, including nine 20-point scoring efforts. She’s also posted seven double-doubles.
