Pining for the days of Antwaan Randle El, four-win seasons and The Oval?
Texas Tech had you covered on Saturday.
The Red Raiders took the field for their basketball football game against Texas — a game they lost by the truly ridiculous final score of 63-56 — wearing throwback uniforms inspired by the school’s 1976 Southwest Conference co-champion team. To Hoosier eyes, the uniforms looked strikingly similar to the ones Indiana donned during the Cam Cameron era two decades ago.
And buddy? We’re here for it.

Black helmets with red and white stripes? Check.
Red jerseys with white numbers and black lining? Yep.
White pants with red and black stripes? Those, too.

You really do love to see it.
Let this serve as a nudge to the IU athletic department. No, this blog doesn’t want to see a full-time return to the (frankly bizarre) red-and-black scheme of the Cameron days. But a one-time throwback weekend? Yeah, it’d be pretty sweet to see these threads again.
And hey, next year marks the 20th anniversary of Randle El winning what is now known as the Graham-George Offensive Player of the Year award and finishing sixth in the Heisman Trophy race.
Let us now speak this Oval Throwback Weekend into existence.
