Hoosiers slotted at No. 7 in Coaches, AP polls

No game, no problem. Indiana continues to climb in both the Associated Press Top 25 and the Amway Coaches Poll.

The Hoosiers are slotted at No. 7 in each set of rankings this week, a bump of one spot in the AP poll and a jump of two spots in the Coaches poll. So how did they do it? Well, there were some pretty funny top-10 losses that created a pathway.

In the AP rankings, Florida fell five spots to No. 11 after losing to unranked LSU at home on Saturday night. Miami also took a tumble, dropping 10 spots to No. 19 after No. 16 North Carolina dropped 62 points on the Hurricanes at Hard Rock Stadium.

The Hoosiers placement in both polls is nice, but the real question is what happens in the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday evening. If we’re going by BartaLogic, Iowa will probably be handsomely rewarded for beating unranked Wisconsin, Coastal Carolina will likely move into the top four after squeezing past Troy, and Georgia will surely receive some sort of prize for thumping Missouri.

Suppose we’ll soon find out.
