Hoosiers drop to No. 12 in AP poll

It’s a three-spot drop for Indiana

NCAA Football: Indiana at Michigan State Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

We asked nicely, but no one heard us. Indiana is no longer ranked inside the top 10.

The Hoosiers dropped three spots to No. 12 in this week’s Associated Press top 25, matching their spot in the Amway Coaches Poll. Not only did IU fall, it saw Northwestern climb eight places to No. 11 after the Wildcats beat Wisconsin on Saturday. The Badgers fell eight spots to No. 18. Ohio State remained at No. 3.

This is the fifth consecutive week that Indiana has appeared in the AP poll, the program’s longest streak since 1993. And while the AP poll is nice and all, its significance will be diminished in a matter of days. The College Football Playoff Top 25 will be revealed on Tuesday evening.
