IU opens as 12-point favorite at Rutgers

The lines are out, and Indiana — as expected — is favored heading to New Jersey

Indiana hasn’t lost a game in its series with Rutgers since 201— oh... wait, wait ... I’m sorry. I forgot. We don’t talk about that game around here.

Let me try again.

Indiana has won each of its last four meetings with Rutgers, and the Hoosiers will head to New Jersey this week favored to extend that streak to five. IU opened as a 12-point favorite against the Scarlet Knights, according to VegasInsider.com.

Each of IU’s last two trips to Rutgers have been one-possession victories — a 24-17 win in 2018, and a 33-27 triumph in 2016. Those games out East have trended a bit differently than, say, the ones in Bloomington, where IU has won the past two meetings by a combined score of 76-0.

This year’s matchup could be interesting, with Indiana playing as a ranked team for only the second time in 25 years. Rutgers, meanwhile, has found some extra juice under the guidance of old new coach Greg Schiano.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. Eastern on BTN.
