Over the past two recruiting cycles IU has brought in some of the best high school players in the state including stars like Romeo Langford and Trayce Jackson-Davis. On Friday that trend continued as Culver Academies guard Trey Galloway announced his commitment to the Hoosiers on Instagram.
The three-star recruit was one of IU’s top targets in the class of 2020. 247Sports ranks him as one of the top five players in the state of Indiana and just outside of the top 150 players nationally. Galloway also had offers from Butler, Michigan State and Purdue among others.
As a junior he averaged over 16 points per game for the Eagles, hitting 52 percent of his shots from the floor and helping to lead them to a semi-state championship.
This is a win for the Hoosiers, as they hit on one of their top targets and pick up a player who could give them a shot in the arm from beyond the arc and has quite a bit of potential. Galloway’s commitment could also be a key part of landing the top senior in the state, Bloomington South’s Anthony Leal. The two were AAU teammates and Leal recently announced that IU had made it into his top two schools along with Stanford.
