Just five picks after Andrew Saalfrank was selected by Arizona in the sixth round, fellow IU starter Tanner Gordon was taken by the Atlanta Braves with the 187th overall pick of the MLB Draft.

The right-hander struggled early in his first season as a Hoosier after transferring from John. A Logan College, but settled in around mid-March and recovered nicely. He ended the year with a 6-5 record and a 3.39 earned run average. He struck out 90 batters in 85 innings across 15 starts and allowed opposing hitters to hit just .210 against him.
Gordon is the third Hoosier to be selected this year, following junior centerfielder Matt Gorski and the aforementioned Saalfrank.
As a junior Gordon still has the opportunity to elect to return to IU for his senior season. The Braves will retain his rights and can sign him until 11:59 p.m. ET on August 15 or until he returns to school.
