For the second straight season, the Indiana women’s basketball team will hit the road in the Big Ten/ACC challenge as a match-up with unfamiliar foe Miami awaits the Hoosiers. The complete match-ups for the even were announced on Tuesday with Indiana’s contest set for Dec. 4.
The two sides have met just three times in program history and once in the annual challenge, that match-up coming in 2008 where the Hoosiers won 69-54. The most recent match-up between the two came in 2015 in the Florida Sunshine Classic where the ranked Hurricanes won 89-75. Miami won the only other match-up between the two teams and leads the series 2-1.
In the Big Ten/ACC challenge, IU is 7-5 overall after last year’s 87-73 win over Wake Forest and are also 4-2 on the road.
Per IU’s release on the game, Miami posted an overall record of 25-9 last season and finished at No. 19/20 in the final national polls. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 and finished fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2018-19. The Hurricanes return two leading scorers in All-American senior guard Beatrice Mompremier (17.0 ppg., 11.8 rpg.) and junior guard Mykea Gray (12.6 ppg.).
Indiana already has a beefed up schedule for 2019-20 with four starters returning. The Hoosiers will take part in the Paradise Jam against South Carolina, a Sweet 16 side last year, Baylor, defending national champions, and Washington State.
