NCAA Basketball: Rutgers at Indiana Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Hoosiers finally cruised past Rutger, pantsing them 89-73 on regional television, in a score that makes the game look a lot closer than it was.

Here’s three things from the victory:

  • Juwan Morgan, man: Indiana’s only four-year scholarship senior looked the part on Saturday, pouring in 25 points on 11-13 shooting to go along with 7 rebounds. Each point seemed quintessentially Juwan, coming off of savvy post moves or hard-nosed GRITBALL rebounds, and even a three-pointer. It was followed by a brief, but sincere, speech to cap off his Assembly Hall career. There’s no question that Juwan has seen the door crack open to give him one, last shot at the Dance, and he’s going to make the most of it.
  • Indiana is firmly on the bubble, and has everything to play for next week. There’s no question Indiana has a tournament-worthy résumé from the quality win v. bad losses perspective, but they made need one more win to get the committee to pull the trigger. I set the magic number at 18, before the Michigan State game, and they’ll get either a reeling Ohio State or Minnesota depending on how the Buckeyes do against Wisconsin later today. At 18-14 (8-12) with the wins they have and the absence of bad losses, they should feel good about their chances on Selection Sunday. But asking for even -one- win in the conference tournament has, historically, been a big ask for this program.
  • RUTGER: They don’t belong in the Big Ten. They suck big chungus. While they’ve improved this year (and it would be almost impossible to be any worse), the next conference commissioner should make it their number one priority to fire them into the stratosphere.
