Indiana typically waits until just before the season opener to announce who has been suspended for transgressions during the offseason, but Tom Allen decided to get one big one out of the way early:
Indiana announces running back Morgan Ellison has been indefinitely suspended. #iufb
— Mike Miller (@MikeMillerHT) August 24, 2018
Ellison was Indiana’s leading rusher last season, compiling 700 yards and 6 touchdowns as a true freshman. It’s likely that a committee of Cole Gest (428 yards, 1 TD), Ricky Brookins (88 yards, 1 TD), and Mike Majette (missed most of last season through injury), along with a few talented true freshman will share the load for the duration of Ellison’s suspension.
Tom Allen gave no indication of what led to Ellison’s suspension.
Redshirt Freshman linebacker Mo Burnham has also been suspended for the opener against Florida International. Like with Ellison, there were no further details what lead to that suspension.
