This matchup is part two of the season series between IU and Indiana State. The first was on March 28 as the Hoosiers traveled to Terre Haute and took a 5-3 victory behind a strong performance from Logan Sowers, who went 2-4 with a trio of RBIs. That game was also a bit of a bullpen game for Indiana, as they utilized Cam Beauchamp, Tim Herrin, BJ Sabol, and Cal Krueger on the mound.

After a solid start to the season the Sycamores have floundered a bit as of late. Since their loss to Indiana they’ve dropped a pair of weekend series two games to one, one of those to Missouri State and the other to Bradley.

The Hoosiers on the other hand have continued their early season success since defeating Indiana State in their first matchup, sweeping in-state foe Butler and taking two of three against Purdue.

What to Expect

A Hoosier win. Indiana is a top ten team in the country and Indiana State is a Missouri Valley Conference team that’s in a bit of a funk. This is baseball and anything can happen, but IU should be able to handle the Sycamores in this one.

One interesting thing to watch is how Chris Lemonis will handle the pitching staff in this one. Who will start? How long will the starter stay in? Which relievers will be utilized? As far as starting options go I’d say that Connor Manous might be the guy tonight, but Tim Herrin and Nick Eaton could also be options. If Herrin doesn’t get the start he should probably be the first guy out of the pen, and this one could easily be a bullpen game for the Hoosiers.
