Exactly one year ago today, Tom Crean’s tenure in Bloomington came to an end after nine seasons, two outright Big Ten titles, and plenty of hand-wringing.
He’s (almost) officially back in coaching.
According to Adrian Wojranowski -- a close friend of Crean’s — the man this blog shall refer to only as Dad is finalizing an agreement to return to the college game. He’ll be the next basketball coach at Georgia, if all goes well.

On the surface, it’s a decent fit for Tom — and one that should be a welcome reprieve from Bloomington. He’ll face little pressure at a school where football comes first, second, and third -- and the reported contract Georgia floated to Thad Matta seems to indicate the university’s ready to make a serious commitment to basketball. He’ll also get access to a fertile Atlanta recruiting ground where he’s pulled players like current Indiana freshman Al Durham.
More on this as it develops.
