Recruits with basketball talent from the state of Missouri tend to do well at IU with the recent success of Juwan Morgan and OG Anunoby.
However, Hayti, Missouri native Ivory Winters is here to play football.

The first thing that’s likable about Winters is that he picked IU over Arkansas and noted rivals Purdue and Kentucky. On top of that he boasts some impressive athleticism with a 4.45 40-yard dash time and a 35” vertical.
And here’s a tweet recently on why I want him to play basketball here.
Gotta love small town sports; scoring TDs in state on Saturday, practice Monday, playing a Basketball game on Tuesday! I see you @Ivoryw_1 pic.twitter.com/VooDPbSWck

How many guys under six feet tall do you know that could dunk in high school? Not many I suppose.
The only downside to Winters’ recruitment is that RB might be the deepest position at IU right now, meaning Winters may not see a lot of playing time. Between the emergence of Stevie Scott last season and the hype around Sampson James, Ivory would be a third string best case scenario, but even then there he’ll compete with guys like Cole Gest and Ronnie Walker.
Winters was also a two-way player in high school, playing OLB as well as RB.
