Former Indiana running back Camion Patrick was arrested at 9:50 am Wednesday morning in Bloomington in connection with a murder near his hometown in East Tennessee.
According to a Knoxville News-Sentinel report this morning, Patrick and his brother Isaiah Wright have been connected to a fatal July 25 stabbing of Caleb Thomas Radford, 18, of Maryville, Tennessee. No official charging information has been released relating to the charges against the two brothers. Two men were arrested on August 3 and charged in connection with the murder, at which time Alcoa, Tennessee Police stated that “the men responsible for Radford’s death were now in custody.”
The stabbing incident would’ve come just one day after Patrick was granted a medical hardship waiver by the Indiana football staff, effectively ending his collegiate football career, largely before it ever began.
The former JUCO star signed with Kevin Wilson in early 2015, but was academically ineligible for his initial season. After a redshirt year where Wilson dubbed him “Indiana’s best player” in practice, Patrick seemed poised for a breakout 2016 but tore his ACL in spring practice. He returned to play five games for the Hoosiers last season, registering 6 catches and 154 yards total for the season.
Multiple sources confirm to Crimson Quarry that Patrick had not been around the Indiana football in any official capacity since the hardship waiver, though he had remained enrolled as a student at the university.
Both Patrick & brother Isaiah Wright were products of the famed East Mississippi Community College program, which was popularized by the Netflix series ‘Last Chance U.’ Patrick left the Scooba, Mississippi school to come to Bloomington prior to the show’s opening season. Wright, however, had a recurring role on the show.
