Indiana to open at Wisconsin in 2020, at Iowa in 2021

The Hoosiers will start both years on the road against Big Ten West opponents.

In an attempt to upstage both Apple and Ted Cruz, the Big Ten released conference football schedules for both 2020 and 2021 today. And in both years, Indiana will face tough competition from the Big Ten West right out of the gate in week 1.

On September 5, 2020, the Hoosiers will travel to Camp Randall Stadium in Madison to take on Wisconsin in the season opener. This should be a challenging opener, as Wisconsin has not been kind to IU in recent years (remember 83-20?) and has been the standard-bearer in its division recently.

Almost a year later, on September 4, 2021, Indiana will again start with a B1G West opponent, as the Hoosiers will face Iowa in Kinnick Stadium. By 2021, Kirk Ferentz will have been coaching at Iowa for 24 seasons, and will be getting paid approximately $15 million a year to coach there.

Otherwise, the schedule for IU looks pretty typical, with the six usual Big Ten East opponents as well as the season-ending Bucket game against Purdue.

And here it is for 2021:

With the Big Ten’s announcement today, Indiana’s schedule is now complete for both the 2020 and 2021 seasons. In 2020, Indiana’s non-conference opponents will be Western Kentucky (Sept. 12), Ball State (Sept. 19), and at UConn (Sept. 26), whereas in 2021 the Hoosiers will face Idaho (Sept. 11) and Cincinnati (Sept. 18) from Memorial Stadium, and travel to play WKU on Sept. 25.
