After the excitement died down from the news of Race Thompson committing to IU basketball, the night still wasn’t over for Indiana Athletics. At 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, Linton HS sophomore Kip Fougerousse sent out this tweet:
Excited to announce that I will continue my academic and baseball career at Indiana University. Go Hoosiers! pic.twitter.com/LHK1OU0Mf9
— Kip Fougerousse (@kipjfougerousse) July 17, 2017
Fougerousse’s commitment to Indiana comes after reported visits to Alabama and Vanderbilt. The Class of 2020 star shone during his freshman year for the Miners, hitting .438 last season with three home runs and 23 RBIs. Fougerousse played third base and the outfield for Linton last season, and was also a force on the mound. The 6-3, dual threat threw 41 innings as a freshman, striking out 41 batters and posting a 2.56 earned run average.
Fougerousse received All-SWIAC and Herald-Times All-Area honors after his tremendous season.
