UPDATE: Per Evan Daniels of Scout, Thompson will reclassify to 2017 and come to Indiana this fall.
Race Thompson will also reclassify to 2017 and go to Indiana this coming season, per D1 Minnesota Director Jeremy Miller. https://t.co/5K1RnyGDFT

This could mean Thompson will redshirt the coming season. However, with Thomas Bryant leaving, there could be a role for a big man like Thompson on this year’s team.
After a busy summer of recruiting, Archie Miller and the Indiana Hoosiers picked up their first commit for the Class of 2018 and Miller’s first recruit as a Hoosier in four-star forward Race Thompson.

Thompson is rated a four-star recruit by 247Sports and is ranked 86th in the class overall. He’s also the 22nd-ranked power forward and the third-best player in Minnesota.
Hoosier assistant coach Tom Ostorm, a University of Minnesota grad, reportedly played a big role in the recruitment of Thompson. Indiana is the only school Thompson officially visited as the Hoosiers turned up the heat on recruiting Thompson during the July evaluation period and across the summer.
Thompson is listed as a 6’8”, 200-pound power forward. Despite having the reputation as a bruiser, his mobility allows him to exploit bigger foes.
