After reports last week suggested Robert Johnson would be returning for his senior season with the Indiana Hoosiers, the guard made it official on Monday, announcing his return via Twitter.
Johnson’s return means the Hoosiers will have five seniors on the roster next season along with Josh Newkirk, Tim Priller, Freddie McSwain and Collin Hartman.
The return also helps stabilize things in Archie Miller’s first season in Bloomington as he’ll have a pair of seniors starting in the backcourt next season.
Last year, Johnson was second on the team in scoring at 12.8 points per game while adding 4.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists. He also hit the second-most threes for the team behind James Blackmon, Jr., connecting at a 37 percent clip.
Johnson’s return along with Hartman’s return means the Hoosiers will likely start a lineup of three seniors next season, providing a level of experience and leadership that was lacking last season.
