The Houston Rockets found themselves Sunday night in an roster crisis with Trevor Ariza, Ryan Anderson, Sam Dekker and James Harden all sitting out against the tanking Suns.
Fortunately, they still had Troy Williams.
Williams got the start for the Rockets and caught fire in the first half in Phoenix, hitting five threes on his way to a 22-point night, setting a new career high mark. The Rockets would come away with a 123-116 win.
In the D-League, Williams had been lighting it up with Rio Grand Valley, averaging 19.8 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 35.4 percent from three in 10 games.
His play first earned him a short-term deal with the Rockets after a 10-day contract, then earned him a start on Sunday.
Williams obviously isn’t the only rookie Hoosier to standout this season as Yogi Ferrell earned a Rookie of the Month award after a stellar February.
