Report: Former Drexel coach Bruiser Flint to join Indiana staff as assistant

Archie Miller’s first big hire has a wealth of head coaching experience and deep East Coast ties.

Bruiser Flint

Per a report from Jon Rothstein this morning, Archie Miller will hire former UMass and Drexel coach Bruiser Flint to the Indiana staff as an assistant.

It's an interesting hire for Archie Miller, but one explainable that gets back to his Pittsburgh ties — through none other than John Calipari.

Flint was an assistant on Calipari’s Marcus Camby-led UMass team, before taking over the program after the now-Kentucky head man left for the NBA. After 5 okay seasons in Amherst, he departed for Philadelphia where he spent 15 years as Drexel’s head man before being fired in 2016.

Flint, notably, has no experience as a player or coach at the Power 5 level.

Miller still has spots remaining and has no Indiana ties of staff. Could John Groce be next?
