According to Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports, Tom Crean’s future is currently unclear.
Forde recently released an article addressing various coaching rumors. Forde addressed Lorenzo Romar’s status at Washington, Thad Matta’s status at Ohio State, and Mark Fox's future in Georgia.
In addition to these coaching jobs, Forde also addressed the situation at Missouri.
Prior to Forde’s article, Crean had already been stated as a potential candidate for the Mizzou job. Now we only have further confirmation.
Forde said the following:
“Among currently open jobs, Missouri is vetting candidates and California’s Cuonzo Martin almost certainly will be one of them. Martin is prepared to leave Cal after two seasons and return to the Midwest, but could also be a candidate at Illinois if that job opens. Other possibilities at Missouri could include Keatts, and if Tom Crean wishes to leave Indiana he could be an attractive candidate for the Tigers.
Crean’s future is unclear at this point, as is the situation at Clemson.”
The most interesting facet of the report has to be the statement, “if Tom Crean wishes to leave Indiana.”
With rumors abound at Indiana, many have been focusing on Indiana potentially firing Coach Crean. Thanks to Forde’s report, we should now start to consider the potential for Crean to leave Indiana on his own power.
