Indiana will pay Archie Miller around $4 million annually over 7 years

Fred Glass is committing to the new Hoosiers coach for the long term.

According to a report from The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Indiana’s new men’s basketball coach will have a pretty solid foundation as he starts out in Bloomington. Wojnarowski reports Archie Miller will sign a 7-year deal worth “in the range” of $4 million annually.

The length of the deal is a pretty clear indication that Fred Glass sees this as a hire not just for now, but for the future, and it certainly helps give Miller the backing he needs to recruit confidently. The annual pay, on the other hand, doesn’t quite match what we’d heard about Indiana being flush with cash, but it’s not quite as big a deal for actual performance so I have a hard time caring all that much.

If all goes well, we should be arguing over a contract extension in five years or thereabouts, so get that on your calendar and start getting psyched up.
