Andrew Saalfrank, freshman pitcher for Indiana baseball, was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the week today.
After two rocky outings against Cincinnati and Samford, freshman Andrew Saalfrank came out strong against Middle Tennessee State this past Sunday. He went 6.0 IP, gave up three hits and held MTSU scoreless.
He shares the honor with Tyler Blohm of Maryland, who went 6.0 IP allowing no runs on three hits while striking out six. Saalfrank is the second Hoosier youngster to earn the honor this season. Jake Matheny received it for the week of February 20.
On the season Saalfrank is 1-1 with a 4.25 ERA and has appeared in 5 games with 3 starts.
He and the rest of the Hoosiers will travel to Hawaii for for a 4-game series that begins Wednesday at 11:35 pm ET.
