One tight end exits in Ian Thomas, another enters in Matt Bjorson, who signed his National Letter of Intent today.

Bjorson is a 3-star tight end recruit out of Hinsdale, IL. He committed to Indiana on June 14, just four days after he was offered a scholarship. He also had offers from Kentucky, Western Michigan, Ball State, and Ohio among others. Bjorson was the 36th best recruit in the state of Illinois and 60th ranked recruit among tight ends nationwide.

The 6’3”, 225-pound recruit runs the 40 yard dash in the 4.7 second range, give or take a tenth of a second. Bjorson appears to have some natural gifts and use them well. His physicality and size mixed with his speed make him a hard matchup at the high school level, and it will be interesting to see how he develops in Bloomington.

With Thomas out of the picture after his graduation, it appears as if former walk-on Ryan Watercutter will be the starting tight end in 2018. Behind him Bjorson will compete with Peyton Hendershot and others for whatever playing time he can get.

Here are the highlights from Bjorson’s senior season:
