Indiana adds a productive defensive end to their ranks, as Gavin McCabe has signed to play in Bloomington.

McCabe is a 3-star defensive end from Chicago. At Marist High School he racked up 78 tackles last season while helping lead the team to an 11-1 record and a top 5 ranking in Illinois’ Class 8A. He also recorded 13 tackles for loss and 5 sacks along with a pass deflection and a fumble recovery.

The 6’3”, 250-pound lineman also held offers from Purdue, Illinois, Washington State, and Georgia Tech among others. He originally committed to play for Indiana on June 20. McCabe is ranked 60th among defensive ends across the country and 30th among all recruits in the state of Illinois.

There will be holes to fill on the defensive line following the departures of Greg Gooch, Nate Hoff, and Robert McCray, and depth is always needed along the lines so this is good for the Hoosiers.
