Indiana, West Virginia to meet in 2018 Jimmy V Classic in Madison Square Garden

The trip was previously reported, but it seems the Hoosiers won’t be matching up against North Carolina in Manhattan any longer — and meet the Big 12 foe instead.

Indiana basketball’s largely been boring & nondescript thus far in 2017, so few could hold it against you if you’re looking forward to next season already. Good news! There’s a fun sounding matchup already on the calendar, per Jon Rothstein.

Indiana will matchup with Bob Huggins & West Virginia in Madison Square Garden during the Jimmy V Classic as part of next season’s non-conference slate. Notre Dame will also particpate in the event, though their opponent as yet to be determined. It was previously reported by Zach Osterman in 2016 that the Hoosiers were set to play in this event, but it seems they’ll no longer play North Carolina, as reported at that time.

Huggins’ Mountaneers join Butler & Louisville on what should be another stacked December schedule for the Hoosiers in 2018-2019. Those will come in addition to a Gavitt Games opponent, a B1G-ACC Challenge opponent, and, conceivably, a preseason tournament of sorts. Woof!
