With NBA teams now available to sign players to 10-day contracts, former Hoosier Yogi Ferrell will get another shot in the NBA as the Dallas Mavericks are expected to sign him.
The Mavericks are planning to sign guard Yogi Ferrell of D-League's Long Island on a 10-day contract, league sources tell The Vertical.

After an 11-game stint with the Brooklyn Nets earlier this year, Ferrell was released and assigned to the Long Island Nets. In 17 games with Long Island, Ferrell is averaging 18.6 points, 5.8 assists, 1.5 steals and is shooting 42.2 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from the three-point line.
The Mavericks currently sport the fourth-worst record in the league and are among the bottom-feeders in the Western Conference. Current back-up JJ Barea will be out until the All-Star game and Deron Williams was held out of the team’s last game with a toe injury, likely leading to the signing of Ferrell.
The Mavs have five games over the next 10 days, which should provided ample opportunity for Ferrell to see the floor.
