Indiana Basketball will be represented in both NCAA Basketball Tournaments.
Last night, the IU women secured a 9 seed in the Lexington Regional, and will make their 5th ever appearance in the tourney and first since 2002. Their first game will be against 8 seed Georgia, and will tip off at 9 p.m. on ESPN2. The game will be played in South Bend, meaning that the winner of the IU/UGA game will face off against top-seeded Notre Dame, who has been a powerhouse for several years under head coach Muffet McGraw.
The Hoosiers are led by sophomore point guard Tyra Buss, who was a first-team all-Big Ten selection, along with sophomore forward Amanda Cahill. Like the men's team, they finished the season undefeated at Assembly Hall with a perfect 14-0 record in Bloomington. The season has been an impressive turnaround for second-year head coach and Seymour native Teri Moren, who like Tom Crean, was named B1G Coach of the Year for her efforts. The 20 wins for the IU women this season are also a program record.
