HOOSIERS. WOLVERINES. ESPN. IT'S LIT.

THE GAME PREVIEW LIKES LOW-HANGING FRUIT

Max Bielfeldt vs. Michigan - The most natural story line going into Tuesday's game is that of Bielfeldt returning to face his former team. As a Wolverine last season, Bielfeldt averaged 5.1 points and 3.6 rebounds off the bench, offering some big man depth to John Beilein's team.

Now, he's doing the same role with Indiana under Tom Crean and having more success in doing so. He's averaging career highs across the board and plays an important role for the Hoosiers as Bryant's primary back-up and a sort of small ball center.

PICKING AGAINST INDIANA TO PRESERVE MY SANITY

I think these teams are pretty evenly matched, and I think the fact that it's in Ann Arbor makes up for the fact Michigan may be without Caris Levert. I think the game hinges on two matchups: Thomas Bryant vs. Michigan's interior players & Duncan Robinson vs. Indiana's perimeter defenders. If Indiana goes to Bryant early and often, I'm not sure Mark Donnal or Ricky Doyle can defend him. But he's also a freshman, on the road, in the Big Ten, so there's a lot of uncertainty there. I'm also a bit concerned Tom Crean will "overdo" it with attempting to let Max Bielfeldt get his. Max is a good player, and he's done a ton for Indiana, and I hope he plays well. But if you're thinking with a brain and not a heart, this isn't the game to feed him heavily. It's taking away Indiana's biggest advantage.

DREW THINKS CARIS WON'T PLAY. GOOD.

On Monday, John Beilein informed the media that Caris LeVert made great progress in Sunday's practice, providing Michigan fans with hope that LeVert will be back tonight. However, my gut says otherwise. Throughout the past month as Beilein was badgered with questions about LeVert's status, he made it clear that Michigan would not rush LeVert's return and wanted LeVert to participate in two or three straight practices first. Given that Michigan had just two days of rest between tonight's contest and its matchup with Penn State for the inaugural B1G Super Saturday at Madison Square Garden, I don't think there has been enough time for LeVert to be properly evaluated and ready for tonight. I believe that he will sit out and make his return on Saturday when Michigan hosts in-state rival Michigan State.
