College Gameday heading to place that might be aware that they have a basketball team next Saturday

Despite a ton of a fan interest, Indiana didn't land College Gameday for the Ohio State football game last fall, but that was supposed to be rectified show when Indiana and Purdue faced off on February 20 with conference title implications and both teams riding high off top-10 wins this week.

HAHA, JUST KIDDING.

Instead, ESPN's opting to take the roadshow to COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS home of the Texas A&M Aggies, who have lost four of five and could make it five of six as they take on LSU today. The opponent? The Kentucky Wildcats of course, whom are ranked 22nd in the nation, have three conference losses, and could lose yet another today on the road in Columbia, South Carolina.

That's right. ESPN's choosing to take College Gameday to a matchup that might very well between two unranked teams in America's worst power conference with 3-4 or 4-5 conference losses a piece.

SEC BASKETBALL FEVER, CATCH IT.

The decision might have something to do with Disney seemingly softening on their college basketball product and giving in to the NBA audience. Kentucky-Texas A&M tips at 6:30, ahead of ABC's new NBA Saturday Primetime 8:30 slot that will feature Golden State & the LA Clippers. ESPN's likely looking to protect that new product and not provide any additional hype for the counterprogramming on ESPN during that window -- even though the NBA Saturday Primetime ratings are roughly the same as good college ratings in the past. Of course, that 8:30 ESPN time features Indiana and Purdue next Saturday.

The IU-Purdue game tips off in primetime at 8:30pm on ESPN - and it is the only time that the two in-state rivals face off this year. The game would've made for great Gameday fodder, as this is the best that both IU and Purdue's basketball programs have been in the same year since 2012. With both Purdue and IU coming off huge home wins this week against top Big Ten schools, the atmosphere should be fantastic for those in town next weekend.
