The last linebacker from Indiana to be named an All-American was Van Waiters of the 1987 Indiana team that advanced to the Peach Bowl.
All-around, the last All-American for the Hoosiers was Tevin Coleman, who was a consensus first team All-American.
Scales led the nation in tackles, led the Big Ten in solo tackles and finished seventh in interceptions, anchoring a turnaround for the Hoosier defense that guided them to a bowl game.
