Well, looks like someone didn’t watch what went down in Hawaii last week. Five-star 2017 SF Billy Preston committed to Kansas today, ending a rather typical 5-star recruitment that Indiana somehow found itself in the final four of.

Preston, a 6’10”, 230 lb hybrid forward, is a consensus five-star among all ranking databases. The Oak Hill Academy standout chose the Jayhawks over IU, USC, and Syracuse. Indiana got involved VERY late in this one, coming on strong in only the past 2 months, and they were firmly in the mix until the end, as Preston took an official visit to IU for Hoosier Hysteria.
While the Indiana fanbase is growing tired of always being the bridesmaid, never the bride, it isn’t for lack of effort. The coaching staff is still hounding the market looking for diamonds in the rough, though, and given Tom Crean’s track record, it’s only fair to let the process play out and trust him.
For those looking for a new name to focus on, Jordan Tucker, a 4-star SF that Indiana has been in contact with for a very long time, should see rekindled Hoosier interest. The 6’7” NY native who recently relocated to Georgia for his Senior season has Indiana among his final 7 schools, with many analysts again predicting the Hoosiers to be right in the thick of things for yet another top prospect’s looming commitment.
