Indiana football helmets, ranked

With only 24 hours until football starts, let's argue about important things, like helmet designs.

A couple years ago, Indiana unveiled new helmets for its football team. Two seasons in, they've proven to be a hit, even after some initial reaction was less than favorable. Which of the new designs are our favorites though? Let's rank them and find out!

1. CHROME DOMES

Sleek helmets that resemble the famous candystripes. They're shiny and distinct, and stand out on the field, especially on a sunny day. They seem to work better with the red home unis instead of the white away unis though.

2. BLOCK I

When anyone tries to tell you there is no "I" in team, please point to these.

3. STATE FLAG

There are a lot of bad state flags out there. Indiana's is not one of them! The helmet design works, and is not as convoluted as the Maryland flag helmets. They even look good in white, as the Missouri victory showed us.

4. TRADITIONAL PITCHFORK DESIGN

The interlocking I and U is still a great logo for the school, and is often used on one side of the state flag or number helmets. This is a good #brand.

5. NUMBERS

Nothing wrong with these, per se. Just not my favorites in a crowded field. Not sure how I feel about the font on the numbers, either.
