Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession Monday night

Coming off a medical redshirt, the sophomore-to-be was cited for possession,

It's an unfortunate turn in what would've been one of college basketball's best stories in 2015-16. Devin Davis was cited by IU Police for possession of marijuana last night in Bloomington.

A release from IU Athletics or IUPD is expected shortly. We'll have more on this story as it develops.

12:09 PM UPDATE:

Here's more on the citation from Alex McCarthy at InsideIndiana:

Officers were dispatched a little after 8 p.m. Monday night in response to someone reporting the smell of burnt marijuana at Hickory Hall, a dormitory on campus. Officers arrived, could smell the scent from a second-story window. The resident of the room granted permission for the room to be searched, and officers found a small amount of marijuana in the backpack belonging to Davis. He was cited for possession of under 30 grams, and will face a court date. The resident of the room was not cited and his or her name is not public information.

It's certainly a public perception setback for Davis and Tom Crean's program -- one that dealt with drug-related suspension for Troy Williams and Stan Robinson last season.
