The most important college basketball news of the day just went down in NYC.
It's a great day to be a Hoosier, as the commitment of 4-star PF/C Thomas Bryant immediately makes Indiana a formidable threat in next year's college basketball landscape.
The 6'9" senior out of Huntington Prep becomes the third member of IU's 2015 recruiting class, joining O.G. Anunoby and Juwan Morgan. He had a huge season for his nationally-ranked Huntington Prep team, averaging 17.3 points, 11.6 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, and 2.5 steals per game, while being named as a McDonald's All-American and to the Jordan Brand Classic. Ranked #27 in the class of 2015, Bryant seems poised to make an immediate impact on next year's squad.
Bryant, who had been strongly linked to Syracuse before recent the NCAA imposed harsh sanctions on the program, chose Indiana over the likes of his 3 other finalists, Syracuse, Kentucky, and Missouri.
Indiana played host to Bryant multiple times over the past year, most recently for IU's final home game against Michigan State. After the game, he had this to say about his visit.
"I loved the Indiana visit," he said. "Seeing all those guys, they all accepted me when I walked in, and it was like a family atmosphere there. Great fans always come out and support. It was really nice...They need that one big man in the paint right there with them. If they get that, they could be a real good team down in the long run." (Source)
