Yesterday, we did the voting for the first round of the Cheaney Region, which were 16 of the finest athletes to put on a Hoosier uniform in the 21st Century, many of whom have also had success in the pros.
Today, we move on to the Damon Bailey Region. As we described in our introductory post, the Bailey region "looked for the do-more-with-less, fan-favorite types, but the ones that had a contributing role to the team." So here's our collection of supporting actors, glue guys, grit guys, fan favorites, and others for this region:
(1) AJ Moye vs. (16) Fan's Choice: Will Sheehey
Y'all chose Sheehey for this. Ughhhh. Moye vs. Sheehey might be a brutal 1-16 matchup.
(8) Ben Chappell vs. (9) Gibran Hamdan
A battle of former IU QBs of the 2000s. Chappell's Show was IU's answer to Jared Lorenzen, and he almost singlehandedly beat Michigan that one time. Meanwhile, Hamdan played 7 NFL seasons, was one of the best NFL EUROPE quarterbacks ever, and now has his own clothing line.
(5) Jordan Hulls vs. (12) Austin Starr
Many of you thought Jordy should have been seeded higher, but we like SPORT DIVERSITY. Austin Starr kicked a lot of field goals, including the one that our managing editor maintains is Indiana's best sporting moment since 2000.
(4) Joey DeNato vs. (13) Kevin Alston
Former IU staff ace Joey DeNato was the definition of a GRITTY GRINDER, an undersized innings-eater that helped lead Indiana to a cinderella run to the 2013 CWS. He's now working his way up the Phillies minor league organization. Kevin Alston was a defensive stalwart during the late Freitag era, and now plays for the New England Revolution in MLS. Oh, and yeah, he beat cancer last year.
(6) Levron Williams vs. (11) Collin Hartman
A battle of two Hoosier natives. After his time at IU, Antwaan Randle El's dynamic yet under-appreciated running mate returned home to play for the Evansville BlueCats indoor league team after a short stint with the San Diego Chargers. This season, Hartman came off a torn ACL to provide some much-needed frontcourt relief, and had one preeeeeetty great game against Maryland.
(3) Tracy Porter vs. (14) Shane Wynn
Porter might get penalized by Colts fans for the pick-6 he made to seal the Super Bowl XLIV victory for the Saints five years ago, but Indiana's one lockdown corner gets major GRIT points. Wynn is like 4-foot-7, can freakin' fly, and was the most consistent receiver on last year's IU team. He has an outside shot at getting drafted next week, too.
(7) Marcus Thigpen vs. (10) Jarrad Odle
The 5-9 Thigpen has at least been on the practice squad for NINE different NFL or CFL teams in the past six years and has run back a handful of kicks for touchdowns on Sundays. He also recorded a rap song at Indiana that played during games. It wasn't good, but still. Here is a cool Angelfire page about Odle that will take you back to the very early days of web #content.
(2) Dane Fife vs. (15) Sam Travis

Here's the ballot. Make your votes all day long here:
