Who: Valparaiso Crusaders, 4-10.
Where: Bart Kaufman Field
When: Tuesday, 4:05 PM.
Preview: After sneaking back into the Top-25 with a three-game sweep of Cal State Fullerton, the Hoosiers got more good news on Monday when it was announced that ace Scott Effross will make his first start in nearly three weeks on Tuesday against Valparaiso. Effross had missed his last two starts, but Manager Chris Lemonis said it was just precautionary rest due to general soreness.
Effross returns to a team that is firing on all cylinders. Austin Cangelosi was named Big Ten Player of the Week for his performances against Eastern Michigan and Cal State Fullerton, and freshman Brian Hobbie, who made his first start last Tuesday against EMU and threw a couple big innings of relief on Saturday night against the Titans was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Indiana's offense has recorded 10 or more hits in 11 of its last 13 games, and the pitching staff has allowed only 15 runs in the last seven games.
And there's no reason to expect anything different on Tuesday. Valparaiso comes in at 4-10. The Crusaders are allowing more than seven runs per game and are without a quality win on their resume.
