Four-star 2016 G Bruce Brown picks The U over IU

Up until yesterday, Brown's recruitment seemed on a typical path toward Indiana. Then it wasn't.

In a recruitment that seemed totally on track for Indiana fans just 24 hours ago, the momentum of Tom Crean's 2016 recruiting class just took a bit of a hit with the following news:

Bruce Brown, a four-star combo guard out of the heralded Vermont Academy, had been methodically making his way through the recruitment process. Over the past few months, he had taken visits to IU, Xaxier, UMass, St. John's, and Miami. Just last week, it was thought that Brown would wait until the spring to make his decision. Then that all changed this weekend as his decision had been made, and Jim Larranaga and Miami are the beneficiaries.

The Hurricanes get an extremely disruptive defensive presence, noted by many scouts as probably the top defensive guard in his class. While his offensive game is not quite at the same level, it is by no means shabby, and has improved throughout his high school career.

Brown is ranked #40 on the 247Composite Rankings for the class of 2016.
