Good news everyone: Indiana will once again not lose at football this weekend! The bad news? It's because we have a bye week. That's right, even though the season just started last weekend, the Hoosiers already are off. The Hoosiers will get another bye in late October, in between the Michigan State and Michigan games, but this one seems fairly premature. The biggest news concerning next week's game against Bowling Green is that the Falcons' starting quarterback, Matt Johnson, is out for the season after suffering a hip injury against WKU last week. This news, combined with BGSU giving up over 700 yards last week, should make the first road win for the Hoosiers since October 2012 more attainable.
So, use this thread to talk about whatever you feel like. Potential topics of discussion may include:
- Other college football games going on - Oregon-Michigan State headlines this week's slate, while USC-Stanford and Notre Dame-Michigan could also be good matchups. And who could forget about the all-important Purdue-Central Michigan game up at Ross-Ade?
- Week 1 of the NFL season, in which the Colts face a familiar quarterback in his new home (who could be throwing passes to Cody Latimer).
- The Lindy's college hoops predictions that have IU finishing in 8th in the B1G, which is one spot ahead of Michigan State... but four spots below Minnesota? Okay then.
- Or even Bob Knight crashing his car into a cow in Wyoming a couple weeks ago.
As for me, I'll be making my first ever trip to the Horseshoe for the Ohio State-Virginia Tech game. The Buckeyes struggled in the first half last week against Navy before putting the game away in the second half. Thus, Hokie fans may have some hope in this game, especially if Bud Foster's defense can keep the pressure on OSU QB J.T. Barrett. But am I really going to pick against THE Ohio State University at home and at night in front of 100,000 fans in scarlet and gray? Seems unlikely, especially since they'll be fired up for their home opener. But let us know what's on your mind this weekend as you watch the games.
