Greg Gooch commits to Indiana

After landing three commitments over the weekend, Kevin Wilson and staff have added yet another member to the class of 2014 tonight.

After a weekend that brought commitments from defensive backs Will Dawkins, Kiante Walton and wide receiver Simmie Cobbs, the Indiana coaching staff received news this evening that another class of 2014 prospect would be joining them and the rest of recruiting class in Bloomington.

Longwood, Florida native and Lyman High School standout linebacker Greg Gooch committed to the Hoosiers over scholarship opportunities at Cincinnati, Iowa State, Arizona, Connecticut, Mississippi State and Rutgers to name a few, according to reports and his schools Twitter page:

Needing to get bigger and add more depth on the defensive side of the ball, Gooch has the overall size and speed that the IU coaching staff were looking to bring into the program. At 6-3 and 245 pounds, he uses this to his full advantage in both coverage and causing havoc in the backfield.

Last season as a senior, Gooch finished the year with over 20 tackles for a loss and five total sacks for his Lyman squad. As far as rankings go, he is the 39th inside linebacker and 952nd overall prospect in the 2014 class, according to the 247 Sports Composite.
