Normally, I would probably be bringing you some news about what IU sports did over the weekend, or what to look forward to in the next week, but considering the answer to both of those right now is "Indiana got buried in snow, so pretty much nothing is happening for the next couple days", let's discuss the one big story that we do know a little about right now:
Cody Latimer has declared for the NFL Draft.
(pause for sobbing and shouts of NOOOOOOOOOOOO!)
Yes, it's unfortunate for the future of IU football next year, but Cody felt that now was his best time to go, and we can't really begrudge him for that. We certainly would have liked him to come back for one more year, where he would have been easily the #1 target for the passing game. As it stands, early projections suggest he might be a 2nd or 3rd round pick in the NFL Draft.
Cody put up a message on Instagram with his thoughts early Sunday evening.
I just want to take the time to finally get it out there that I am officially entering the 2014 NFL Draft.. I want to thank Indiana University, it's alumni and fans for giving me the opportunity to be able to join this great university and be apart of a great family.. A special thanks goes to my football family starting from the coaches to my teammates.. it's been a great 3 years in the making so many ups and downs but we continued to fight every game until the end.. In closing I want to say thank you and I will always bleed that cream and crimson!!! IUFB
I know I'll miss watching Cody make big catches for the Cream and Crimson, and wish him the best of luck in the League.
