Indiana Lands Top 50 SG Robert Johnson

Robert Johnson is headed to the Crossroads of America to play his basketball. Tom Crean has now beat out North Carolina in 4 of his last 6 or so head to head recruiting battles with Roy Williams.

It's been a pretty crazy couple of months with Indiana basketball recruiting. Losing highly rated Indiana kids to de-commits and missing on some key guys afterwards, Hoosier fans were on the verge of full on meltdown. Seriously, IU Nation was about to explode with anger at recent recruiting failures. Luckily that all changed this afternoon with the commitment of Robert Johnson.

Johnson a 6'3" shooting guard out of Virginia rated in the top 50 in nearly every recruiting site has had a big summer himself. Shooting up from a somewhat unknown commodity and into the top 100 this summer Robert Johnson has impressed programs and scouts with his smooth jumper and ability to lock up the opposition on defense.

Ultimately, Johnson is going to play a good amount of combo guard at Indiana. Despite being more of a combo guard in his skill set, he's going to get a good bit of time at the point as a back-up and potential replacement to Yogi Ferrell.

We'll now see if Indiana can build this into some recruiting momentum to get one or two more key chips to their 2014 recruiting class. Johnson has already said that he's going to give 5 star Devin Robinson a call to try and reel him into Bloomington as well. Currently the favorite there is Notre Dame. Also look for some news on post presence Goodluck Okonoboh since most third party reports have said that his official visit to Indiana this past weekend went really well.
