Indiana recruiting: 2015 OL Gabe Megginson recaps visit, offer

2015 Illinois offensive lineman Gabe Megginson visited Bloomington last weekend and left with an offer. See what the four-star prospect had to say about the experience and more.

Indiana played host to 2015 offensive lineman Gabe Megginson last weekend. "The facilities were really nice. The way they run their practice, really impressed me, it all really impressed me," the 6-5 295 pound Jacksonville, Illinois native told The Crimson Quarry about his time spent in Bloomington.

Having the chance to watch the Hoosiers get prepared for the upcoming season and campus weren't the only thing Megginson remembered fondly about the trip. "After the tour of the facilities, we were on the field for warmups and Coach Wilson said he liked what he saw on film and my size in person and that I had an offer. After practice he let my family know [about the offer] and we were all very excited."

Already holding offers from the likes of Akron, Illinois, Illinois State and the Badgers of Wisconsin doesn't mean Gabe is taking the IU offer lightly. "I wasn't sure how I'd feel about an offer from there (Indiana) until I saw all what they had to show. It's a great offer to have. I'm really glad they're into me and I'm very happy I had the chance to go visit there."

Megginson tweeted during the visit:

Head coach Kevin Wilson wasn't the only Hoosier staff member Gabe spent time with last week. The soon to be Jacksonville High junior also mingled with his recruiter Coach William Inge and Coach Greg Frey, who both told him that they were impressed with his film and invited him to come back to visit for a game sometime this season.

The four star tackle has had quite the summer.  He has attended numerous camps including stops at Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan and Iowa, but ranks his Indiana visit up towards the top. "The visit, rank wise, was top 3 that I've been on, " Megginson went on to add. "The fact the players interacted with the recruits and that they let you get behind the scenes and up close and personal was a really nice addition to it all."

Megginson is one of the top lineman in the class of 2015. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he is the 147th best player in the country, 15th highest rated offensive tackle and second overall prospect the state of Illinois has to offer from the class of 2015.
