Indiana hosts Purdue for the Bucket: Game Thread

Indiana takes on Purdue today in the football season finale. This game of course means the winner takes home the Old Oaken Bucket, which I would say outside of Bunyan's Axe is the best rivalry trophy in the country. Maybe it is my predisposition to rustic home decorating, but that old bucket does if for me.

But I digress, Indiana will be looking to finish their season out on a high note by beating the ever living crap out of a Purdue football team that is just so very bad. Purdue's offense at one point in the season went over a month without scoring a touchdown and only once this season have they had consecutive drives of over 60 yards. Their offense is bad, but is it as bad as our defense? We'll know more soon, but I'm going to suggest it is.

On the flip side, Purdue's defense is likely more a victim of being on the field constantly than it is being as terrible as the numbers suggest. Still, this Indiana offense should be able to carve their defense up at times. I've not heard whether Tevin Coleman will be back or not, but Stephen Houston should do just fine for IU's rushing attack. Still, I expect Sudfeld and company to apply an all out air raid trying to score early and often. Should be an interesting game.

Coming into the week Indiana was favored by 21 and as John pointed out on Monday, that's the highest the line has been for either team in a long time if not ever. I really want to see the Hoosiers capitalize on that. Especially since two awful basketball games already have the Boilers in a foul mood. Let's get the Hoosier offense going and use a blowout as a final nail in the coffin that is a 2013 Boiler Thanksgiving.
