The Hoosiers take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers today at 3:30 pm in a game that they absolutely must win if they want to see a bowl game this year. They come in as 10 point favorites over Minnesota and I expect them to toe that line today. The Hoosiers have had a full extra week of preparation for Minnesota's only quality offensive weapon, their between the tackles run game. We've seen the Hoosiers already stymie one power run team in Penn State at home. Can they repeat the process today?
My money says they aren't going to repeat the exact process that they did against Penn State, but this idea that Minnesota is just going to posses the ball for 40 minutes this game is a bit overblown. As is the idea that Minnesota will just come in satisfied because they've qualified for a bowl already. Those two talking points coming into today are something I doubt will actually come to fruition.
In the end, it should be a pretty hard fought game. I expect both fan bases at points today to have their head in the hands wondering what the hell is happening. Both I'd imagine come from defensive performances of both teams. Best case scenario is that Indiana can come out and force some stops early that makes Minnesota play catch up the rest of the game.
Stay tuned today to see how this one turns out. I expect it to be a good one before Indiana finally pulls it out in the end. Go Hoosiers!
